A system delivering severe weather over the Central states at midweek will bring rain and thunderstorms later Wednesday night into Thursday around New York City.
The rain will follow showers and thunderstorms from Tuesday night and a break of dry weather on Wednesday.

The rain overnight Wednesday into early Thursday has the potential to be heavy and disruptive, while severe weather is likely to swing well to the south of the region.
In the wake of the rain into early Thursday, the stretch of days from Friday through Sunday will bring at least partial sunshine and a warming trend. High temperatures will range upward from the upper 70s on Friday to the middle 80s by Sunday.
The weather for the Belmont Stakes and the last leg of the Triple Crown on Saturday will be warm and free of rain. Afternoon temperatures will peak near 80 F, but it may feel warmer in the stands in the sunshine with light winds.
