Pittsburgh: Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain to Occur Ahead of Cooler Air

The atmosphere around Pittsburgh will turn increasingly moist with the potential for thunderstorms and flooding downpours ahead of late-week cooling.
Warm air was being squeezed from the west and the east on Tuesday and this trend will continue into Thursday.
As a result the chance of being hit by thunderstorms and flooding downpours will increase through Thursday.

The bulk of the cool air will be felt beginning on Friday as a front pushes off to the east.
The passage of this front will mark the end of the risk of severe weather, but not the end for shower activity through the weekend.
A storm in the upper atmosphere and the associated chilly air will allow a mosaic of showers to develop each day Friday through Monday.
While it may not rain much each day, it can rain just enough to cause disruptions to outdoor projects and activities.
