Harrisburg: Friday to Bring Risk of Flash Flooding

After temperatures fluctuate at midweek around Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, a dose of heavy rain will bring the risk of flash and urban flooding at the end of the week.
While warm and humid conditions dominated the area on Tuesday, slightly cooler air will settle in from the Atlantic Tuesday evening through Wednesday. Accompanying the cool air will be patchy low clouds and fog, along with spotty rain and drizzle.
A southerly flow will allow warm, more humid air to surge back into the region on Thursday. Many locations will surge well into the 80s F after low clouds and fog break off.
A front responsible for torrential rainfall in Texas will join up with tropical moisture from the Atlantic late in the week.

As this corridor of moisture pivots through the area on Friday, the rainfall produced could be heavy enough to cause incidents of flash and urban flooding, along with significant travel delays and disruptions to outdoor activities.

During Friday afternoon and Saturday, the bulk of the showers and thunderstorms will have shifted to the north and east. Travel conditions will improve locally.
A storm in the upper levels of the atmosphere will bring slightly cooler-than-average temperatures over the weekend. Temperatures typically range from a low in the lower 50s to a high in the middle 70s.
Much of Saturday will be free of rain for the 139th Annual Preakness Stakes at Pimlico.
For folks heading to the track, or attending ball games, graduations and weddings, chilly air aloft associated with the storm could bring brief very spotty showers, during the afternoon and evening hours Saturday and Sunday.
