Springlike weather will encourage outdoor activities through Tuesday, but a sharp change to wintry weather will occur on Wednesday.
Ahead of the wintry weather, it will be warm with sunshine and highs nearing 60 degrees on Tuesday.
Some rain will then move into the area later Tuesday night on the leading edge of the winter storm.
Periods of rain will soak the area through Wednesday morning before colder air dives in and changes the rain to a period of snow later Wednesday and Wednesday evening.
While the worst of the snow will stay north of the immediate Pittsburgh area, the city will have several inches accumulate before ending Wednesday night.

As the storm ends, AccuWeather.com meteorologists are concerned that frigid air slamming into the area Wednesday night will turn any wet or slushy roads over to ice. The ice can make for a slippery Thursday morning commute.
It will be much colder on Thursday with a high in the mid-20s, but AccuWeather RealFeel® temperatures will be in the teens.
Moderating temperatures are expected Friday and Saturday with highs around 50.
