An active weather system continued to impact the East Coast on Monday, while several waves of low pressure moved across the Northwest.

Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories were issued across the Tennessee Valley and the Mid-Atlantic on Monday as a cold front pushed an active weather system across the region. Snow showers moved over a handful of states, including Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey. Fayetteville, W. Va., reported a midday total of 8.0 inches of snow. This system also drove sleet and rain across North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Florida stayed clear of wet weather, and experienced relatively warm conditions, as Vero Beach, Fla., recorded a midday high of 84 degrees.

Meanwhile, the central U.S. stayed mostly clear of precipitation on Monday due to high pressure across the region, although a swath of snow showers pushed across parts of the northern Plains and the upper Midwest. Temperatures remained very cold across the northern tier of the country, as Crane Lake, Minn., recorded a morning low of -36 degrees.

Out west, an area of low pressure ushered heavy snow showers across the Cascades and the northern Rockies. Winter storm warnings were issued in Washington and Idaho, while avalanche warnings were issued in Washington and western Montana. Bonner, Idaho, reported a midday total of 13.0 inches of snow, while Shashone, Idaho, reported a midday total of 10.0 inches of snow. Rain also affected parts of northern California, Oregon and Washington, as Trinity Center, Calif., reported a midday total of 1.06 inches of rain.
