A cold frontal boundary extended from the southern Plains to the
Northeast on Saturday, while a wave of low pressure moved across the

An area of low pressure along the northern end of a frontal boundary
pushed across the Northeast on Saturday. Winter weather advisories were
issued in Upstate New York and parts of New England as light to moderate
snow showers accompanied the system. A mixture of rain and snow also
moved across parts of southern New England. High pressure along the
northern tier of the country ushered arctic air across the northern

Minn., recorded a morning low of -11 degrees, while International Falls,
Minn., recorded a morning low of -9 degrees.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms developed over the southern Plains
and the Gulf Coast on Saturday as an area of low pressure formed over
the western Gulf Coast. Temperatures were warm across the Southeast, as
Kendall, Fla., recorded a midday high of 86 degrees.
Meanwhile, winter weather advisories were issued over portions of the
Intermountain West and the central Plains as a low pressure system
brought snow showers to the area. Garfield, Colo., reported a midday
total of 4.5 inches of snow. The West Coast stayed mostly clear on
Saturday due to a ridge of high pressure along the coast of California.
Temperatures ranged between the 70s and 80s across the Desert Southwest.
