Despite the official arrival of a spring and a mild start to the weekend, a close eye is being kept on the potential for snow to target New York City at midweek.
The weekend will end on a cooler note in New York City with even colder air to follow for Monday.
It will feel more like the dead of winter than the start of spring on Monday with temperatures starting the day in the lower 20s and rebounding only to the lower 30s.
The chilly air will hold through midweek, potentially setting the stage for a snowstorm to unfold Tuesday through Tuesday night.
The key to whether a snowstorm will disrupt travel around New York City will be how close to the Northeast coast a strengthening storm tracks. The city could just be grazed with some snow or will become the target of heavier snow that could severely disrupt travel and daily routines.
The snowstorm is expected to evolve into an all-out blizzard but likely not until bypassing New York City.
