Monitoring a Major Snowstorm Threat for Boston

Despite the official arrival of a spring and a mild start to the weekend, a close eye is being kept on the potential for a major snowstorm to target Boston at midweek.
The weekend will end on a cooler note in Boston with even colder air to follow for Monday.
It will feel more like the dead of winter than the start of spring on Monday with temperatures starting the day in the lower teens and rebounding only to the upper 20s.
The chilly air will hold through midweek, potentially setting the stage for a major snowstorm to unfold Tuesday night through Wednesday.

The key to whether a major snowstorm will slam Boston will be how close to the Northeast coast a strengthening storm tracks. The city could see the worst of the snowstorm pass by to the east or will become the target of heavy windswept snow that could bring traffic to a halt.
It is not out of the question that the storm evolves into an all-out blizzard in Boston if it tracks close enough to eastern New England.
