A band of snow threatens to disrupt travel and daily routines around Chicago on Monday.
Snow developing across the Upper Midwest on Sunday night will sweep through Chicago on Monday, dropping a fresh 3-6 inches.
Sleet initially mixing with the snow will hold amounts to 1-3 inches south of I-80.
Residents will likely once again be faced with school cancellations, disruptions to other activities and a slow/difficult commute--for those who do not have Presidents Day off.
Travel will become slick and treacherous on area interstates and highways, while airline passengers should prepare for possible flight delays and cancellations.
So far this winter, Chicago has picked up 62.9 inches of snow. That makes this winter the city's seventh snowiest. The winter of 1917-18 and its 64.1 inches sits in the sixth spot with the winter of 1978-79 and its 89.7 inches at the top of the list.
Some of the snow will begin to melt on Tuesday as temperatures approach the 40-degree mark.

Highs in the middle and upper 30s will then follow for Wednesday and Friday.
Overnight lows these days will still drop to or below freezing, so people are urged to walk and drive defensively.
With the milder temperatures will likely come rain instead of snow later in the week, as well as the potential for stream and minor urban flooding, where snow piles are clogging storm drains.
Temperatures fluctuating between above freezing during the daytime and subfreezing at night this week--after Monday--will help regulate the release of runoff from snowmelt into area streams and rivers.
Residents living in flood-prone areas are urged to monitor the impending flood threat.
