An area of low pressure continued to trek across the Northeast on Friday, while a separate wave of low pressure moved across the Mississippi Valley.

Winter storm warnings were issued across northern New England on Friday as an area of low pressure made its way over the region. Heavy snow fell in portions of New England, while spottier snow showers lingered across parts of Pennsylvania and New York. Sherman, Maine, reported a midday total of 15.0 inches of snow, while Livermore Falls, Maine, reported a midday total of 13.0 inches of snow.

Meanwhile, another wave of low pressure shifted across the middle Mississippi Valley on Friday, as winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories were issued across in the Ohio Valley, the Tennessee Valley and the Mid-Atlantic. A mixture of rain and snow accompanied this system, as Coles, Ill., reported a midday total of 3.0 inches of snow, while Douglas, Ill., reported a midday total of 3.0 inches of snow.

Along the West Coast, a cold front approached the northwestern tier of the country. This system ushered rainy weather across northern California, Oregon and Washington, while a mixture of rain and snow impacted the Cascades and the Rockies. Brookings, Ore., reported a midday total of 1.95 inches of rain, while Crescent City, Calif., reported a midday total of 1.43 inches of rain. The Southwest stayed warm and dry on Friday, as Ramona, Calif., recorded a midday high of 82 degrees.
