An area of low pressure will trek across the Northeast on Saturday, while a separate area of low pressure will move over the northern Plains and the upper Midwest.

A low pressure system will push across the Great Lakes and the Northeast on Saturday, ushering rain and snow across the region. Heavy snow will be possible in upstate New York, while widespread light snow will impact the Mid-Atlantic and New England. Coastal regions along the Northeast will experience a wintery mix of rain and snow. The Southeast and the Gulf Coast are expected to stay clear of precipitation due to high pressure over the central Gulf Coast.

Meanwhile, a cold front associated with a low pressure system will extend from the upper Intermountain West to the upper Midwest. A swath of heavy snow will likely move across southern Wisconsin, northern Illinois, northern Indiana and western Ohio. Lighter snow will be possible elsewhere in the Ohio Valley, as well as the upper Tennessee Valley.

The Intermountain West and the West Coast will continue to experience above normal temperatures and dry conditions due to a ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific. This ridge will prolong a drought across California, as fire danger will be high across the state.
