Rain, snow and fog posed challenges for cities across the globe this week.
On Tuesday, heavy rain fell over Johannesburg, South Africa, creating a sea of umbrellas at Nelson Mandela's memorial service.
On Wednesday, dense fog set an eerie scene throughout London, resulting in near-zero visibility and canceling hundreds of flights.

Thursday brought early-season snow to Jerusalem and parts of the Middle East. Though not unusual, snow events only occur every few years for the region.
On several days this week, lake-effect snow piled up across parts of New York. As of Friday afternoon, some cities had as much as 3 feet.
Finally, skygazers caught a glimpse of the Geminid meteor shower this week. The celestial show peaks this weekend.
