In the wake of one of the worst ice storms in recent years to hit the South Central states temperatures will plunge Friday night around the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
Areas made wet and slushy by the storm will freeze solid Friday night.
While some sleet fell in place of freezing rain and made the situation less severe and manageable to some extent, compared to if all freezing rain fell.
However, many roads and sidewalks will be dangerous for travel, as the ice will be very difficult to remove, due to sub-freezing temperatures.
Temperatures will only be above freezing for a handful of hours Sunday and Monday afternoon adding to the hardship for those without a source of heat for their homes.
