The coldest air of the season so far is moving in for the middle of this week around Boston, in the wake of Tuesday's snowstorm. A new storm will move in this weekend and tap into the cold air.
Temperatures will dip well down into the teens and lower 20s in most areas at night through Thursday. In some of the coldest locations temperatures could reach the single digits.
A breeze will add to the cold, producing RealFeel® temperatures near zero at times.
A storm will develop over the Deep South Friday and will head northeastward Saturday.
While warmer air and rain will move up with that storm, odds favor an extended period of snow Saturday afternoon into Saturday night around Boston. Roads are likely to be slippery.
The wintry precipitation is likely to occur during the Army-Navy Classic Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Enough snow and rain can fall to not only impact the game at Philadelphia, but also disrupt travel throughout the Northeast region.
The track and strength of the storm as it nears the coast will determine how heavy precipitation becomes Saturday night into early Sunday. If the storm were to develop to its full potential, a heavy accumulation of snow is likely with major travel disruptions.
The storm will move away Sunday afternoon.
More details will follow as the week progresses on AccuWeather.com.
