Strong winds will impact the Great Lakes region through Thursday with gusts occasionally reaching between 30 and 40 mph.
These winds could lead to flight delays and downed tree limbs across this area, including the cities of Chicago, Minneapolis, Detroit and Buffalo.
Not only should folks that have flights scheduled to depart the Northeast and Midwest Thursday prepare for flight delays due to the gusty winds, but also those who have scheduled flights headed into the regions.
"Winds will crank up Wednesday, blowing leaves around," said AccuWeather.com Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams. "These winds could also lead to flight delays and a few localized power outages into Thursday."
In addition to the threat of flight delays and minor problems, winds will also make temperatures feel much colder than they already are.
The combination of cloud cover and gusty winds will make the AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures struggle to climb out of the 20s in many areas, even during the afternoon which is typically the warmest part of the day.
The AccuWeather.com RealFeel® determines how the temperature actually feels outside by taking into account different factors such as humidity, amount of sunlight and wind speed.

Although Thursday will be the start of a warming trend in the Midwest and Northeast, persistent winds will keep AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures in the low to mid-30s.
"While there will be some wind on Friday and Saturday, most people will be feeling how mild it will be getting," Abrams said.
With a warmup in sight and the cold wind subsiding, temperatures across the area will feel 30 to 40 degrees warmer.
A second round of strong wind is possible later in the weekend as another arctic cold front approaches.
"Winds could again be strong enough to cause flight delays and other problems Saturday night into Sunday night from the Ohio Valley to the Great Lakes," according to Expert Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski. "Drenching rain will accompany the strong winds during this time."

@KymLang we average 60" a year because of proximity to the great lakes. the cold winds cross the lakes, pick up moisture and drop snow
