WeatherFanatics: Mount Sinabung Eruptions Force Thousands to Flee

A pair of eruptions rattled villages around Mount Sinabung in North Sumatra, Indonesia, on Thursday.
The first blast occurred during the morning, followed by another around midday, local time, according to the Jakarta Globe.
The initial eruption sent ash flying 7,000 meters into the air.

Sutopo Purwo Nugroho from the National Disaster Mitigation Agency reported that up to 5,535 residents have been moved to evacuation points.
Nugroho also stated that there have been no fatalities, and that the emergency response period will remain in effect until Saturday.

Mount Sinabung remains a highly volatile volcano, and additional eruptions will be possible in the coming weeks.
The weather across the region will feature daily showers and thunderstorms through the weekend.
