Arctic Cold Blast Headed to Washington, DC

A blast of arctic air will soon bring much colder and freezing temperatures to Washington, D.C.
Those in Washington, D.C., should not get used to the highs in the upper 50s that are expected on Monday.
Arctic air is set to blast in and hold highs on Tuesday and Wednesday to the middle 40s. The hours before daybreak Tuesday could actually prove to be warmer than the afternoon.
Brisk winds ushering in the cold will create even colder AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures on Tuesday, forcing residents and visitors to bundle up.

The arrival of the arctic air will be accompanied by a rain shower through the early afternoon of Tuesday.
Tuesday night, Washington, D.C., will record its first subfreezing temperature of the fall.

The impending cold will serve as a reminder that the official start to winter is just around the corner.

As fast as the arctic air invades the United States, temperatures will quickly rebound later in the week.
