The autumn system moving across the U.S. will continue to bring wet weather, thunderstorms and even a few more snowflakes to the Northern Tier and Eastern U.S. this weekend. The Western U.S. will see plenty of sunshine and warm weather.

Saturday:

The Upper Midwest and Northern Plains will continue to see a mix of snowfall and thunderstorms as an autumn system moves across the Northern Tier. Snowfall will be mostly concentrated in the Northern Plains while thunderstorms cover the Midwest. These storms will become slightly more scattered as they extend southward into the Mississippi Valley and Southern Plains. Temperatures in the Northern Plains will be in the 30s and 40s, while the Upper Midwest sees highs in the 50s and 60s. The Mississippi Valley will see a range of temperatures, from the 60s to the 80s.

The Southeast will see a considerable soaking as Tropical Storm Karen approaches from the Gulf of Mexico. Heavy rains and high winds are expected as Karen makes landfall, which may cause flooding in areas with poor drainage. Temperatures will be warm, with highs in the 80s and lower 90s.

The remainder of the U.S. will see sunny skies and warmer temperatures once again. The Mid-Atlantic and West Cost will have temperatures in the upper 80s, while the Rockies and Mountain West see highs in the 50s and 60s. The Pacific Northwest will see plenty of sun rays with temperatures in the 70s.

Sunday:

Thunderstorms and showers will move across the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys on Sunday as a front passes through. These storms will branch into the Midwest and even into the Northeast, but will remain slightly quieter with only showers of rain expected. Temperatures in the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys will be in the 70s. The Midwest and Northeast temperatures will range from the upper 50s to the lower 70s.

As Tropical Storm Karen makes landfall, the Southeast will see another day of heavy downpours, thunderstorms and high winds. Again, there will be a threat for flooding in some areas. Temperatures will be in the 80s and 90s.

The Mid-Atlantic will escape most of the wet weather, but see moderately cloudy skies with temperatures in the 80s. Another day of clear skies will dominate the rest of the U.S. The West Coast and Southwest will stay toasty with temperatures in the upper 80s and 90s. The Pacific Northwest, Mountain West and Central Plains will be comfortable in the 60s and 70s while the Northern Plains and higher elevations in the Rockies keep cooler in the 50s.
