The weekend began with cooler temperatures and cloudy skies Friday evening but temperatures will spike back up for the first few days of fall.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the 70s throughout the weekend with Saturday being cooler than Sunday.
Saturday's high temperature for the last day of summer is expected to reach 74 degrees during the midday hours.
Low clouds and sunshine will be prominent through the weekend for the city's series of The Beach Ball, a music free music festival at the Santa Monica Pier.
The first official day of fall will begin on Sunday with a high temperature of 77 degrees.

Temperatures will spike back up into the 80s Monday and Tuesday. These days will consist of mostly sunny skies during the day and clear skies during the evening.
Low clouds will return on Wednesday and Thursday as temperatures dip back into the mid-70s.
Mostly sunny skies will return on Friday, accompanied by 80 degree temperatures.
