WeatherWhys for August 13,2013

Several powerful hurricanes have struck the United States in August, including two of the only three known hurricanes that have maintained Category 5 strength through their U.S. landfall. Hurricanes Camille and Andrew were those two hurricanes. Katrina and Rita reached Category 5 intensity, but fortunately did not carry their full fury right to the coast.
