Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday,August 17,2013.
Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will continue streaming northward over
the Southeastern states on Saturday. This will bring more heavy rainfall
and strong thunderstorms to the region. Flood warnings and advisories
will remain in effect from the panhandle of Florida through the
Carolinas and into the Mid-Atlantic states. Rainfall totals in these
areas will approach 4 inches again, reaching over 6 inches for the
combined rainfall since Friday morning. North of this activity, high
pressure over the Great Lakes and Northeast remains the dominant weather
feature over the rest of the Eastern states. This system will maintain
dry and pleasant weather from the upper Midwest through the Ohio River
valley and Northeast. High temperatures will remain in the lower 80s for
these areas.
Just west of this system, a trough of low pressure moving through
central Canada extends into the north-central U.S. This will increase
chances of showers and thunderstorms as it slides eastward across the
northern Plains on Saturday. Heavy rainfall and strong storms are not
anticipated with this system.
Out West, chances of showers and thunderstorms will continue across the
Four Corners as monsoonal moisture lingers over the region. Storms will
be isolated and are not expected to turn severe.
