New York Transit Service Improves

The MTA services that were interrupted by flooding following Sandy, are beginning to be restored.

As of Friday afternoon, only the MTA Staten Island Railway (SIR), C, E and G train routes are fully suspended. Many of the MTA subway trains are operating on limited routes, according to an MTA press release. For the complete list of subway service visit the New York MTA website.

Most of the MTA's rail service remains suspended as of Friday afternoon. Most of the buses are running, but are facing delays.
Both the Hugh L. Care and Queens Midtown bridges remained closed Friday. The Cross Bay Bridge is open to traffic but the Rockaway bound traffic is subject to closure for emergency vehicles.
It's hard to estimate how long it will take MTA workers to restore all transportation routes. The efforts are ongoing to get all services restored as soon as possible.
The MTA service region spans 5,000 square miles. About 8.5 million people rely on these services every day.
