WeatherWhys for October 10,2012

Here's the "WeatherWhys",for Wednesday,October 10,2012,discussing how hazy days tend to occur during the early part of the autumn season, from accuweather.com,enjoy:

Temperature inversions during autumn are quite common. The inversion occurs when the air is chilly near the ground but mild aloft. When low clouds and fog form below the inversion, the sun does not have enough strength to warm the surface air. In turn, there is virtually no vertical mixing, and the low clouds, haze and fog persist for a good portion of the day.
