US National Weather Forecast for October 4,2012

Here's the US National Weather Forecast for Thursday,October 4,2012,as of 7:30AM,EDT/ 4:30AM,PDT, October 4,2012,from weatherunderground.com,enjoy:

The early winter storm of the Northern Plains will strengthen as it heads northeastward across northern Minnesota on Thursday. The storm will pull a significantly colder airmass from the north into the Northern Plains and the Upper Midwest, allowing precipitation in the eastern Dakotas and northern Minnesota to changeover into snowfall from west to east. While Thursday morning snow totals in the Dakotas will vary widely from no snow accumulation to locally heavy accumulations, general amounts of 1 to 3 inches can be expected . Meanwhile, bands of heavy snow may accompany this system through the northern counties of Minnesota, allowing some areas to receive up to 6 inches of snow or more. In addition to heavy snow, gusty winds are expected with the passing of this system. This combination of snow and wind may create reduced visibilities and hazardous travel conditions. Trailing this system, an associated cold front will extend southwestward across the Midwest and into the Southern Plains by Thursday evening. A few isolated showers and rumbles of thunder can be expected in areas near this boundary through the day, and cooler temperatures to follow with the passing of this disturbance.

In the East, a frontal system extending across the Eastern Seaboard will continue to weaken as it lifts northward on Thursday with showers and thunderstorms.
