...RECORD TEMPERATURES POSSIBLE TODAY...
STRONG HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN OVER CALIFORNIA THROUGH MID WEEK. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE NEAR RECORD LEVELS TODAY ACROSS THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA INTERIOR. TEMPERATURES WILL COOL A COUPLE OF DEGREES WEDNESDAY...BUT WILL REMAIN WELL ABOVE NORMAL.
EVEN IN THE MOUNTAINS HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE SUMMER LIKE...AND RANGE FROM THE UPPER 80S TO MID 90S AT 4000 FEET...TO THE MID 70S TO MID 80S AT 8000 FEET.
NIGHT TIME TEMPERATURES IN THE LARGER CITIES COULD ALSO BE CLOSE TO RECORD HIGH MINIMUMS. HOWEVER WITH A DRY AIRMASS IN PLACE AND LONGER NIGHTS...MOST VALLEY AND LOWER FOOTHILL TEMPERATURES SHOULD DROP INTO THE UPPER 50S AND 60S AT NIGHT.
IT WILL COOL OVER THE LATTER HALF OF THE WEEK AND INTO THE WEEKEND AS THE HIGH PRESSURE AREA WEAKENS. BY NEXT SUNDAY...HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL LOWER TO NEAR NORMAL.
PEOPLE PLANNING TO BE OUTDOORS SHOULD REVIEW HEAT SAFETY TIPS. WEAR LIGHTWEIGHT LIGHT-COLORED LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING AND DRINK PLENTY OF NON-ALCOHOLIC FLUIDS. AVOID STRENUOUS ACTIVITY DURING THE HOTTEST PART OF THE DAY. NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN...PETS OR THE ELDERLY IN A VEHICLE...EVEN WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN AS TEMPERATURES CAN CLIMB TO LIFE-THREATENING LEVELS WITHIN MINUTES. SANGER
