SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY A COLD LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM...BY OCTOBER STANDARDS...WILL DROP SOUTHEASTWARD FROM THE GULF OF ALASKA TO JUST OFF OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST COAST. THIS WILL PUSH A COLD FRONT ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA WHICH WILL CAUSE SNOW LEVELS TO FALL FROM NEAR 6000 FEET WHEN PRECIPITATION BEGINS TO THREE TO FOUR THOUSAND FEET BY MONDAY NIGHT.
THOSE PLANNING TO TRAVEL ACROSS THE SOUTHERN OREGON CASCADES...ON INTERSTATE FIVE THROUGH SISKIYOU SUMMIT...AND IN THE MOUNT SHASTA AREA MONDAY THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT SHOULD STAY TUNED FOR WEATHER UPDATES AS ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL IS POSSIBLE DURING THIS TIME PERIOD. ADDITIONALLY...HUNTERS...HIKERS...AND OTHERS WHO MAY BE PLANNING TO BE OUTDOORS IN THE MOUNTAINS DURING THIS TIME PERIOD SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR WINTER WEATHER...AS ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED.
