After a cool and damp start, hot conditions and the threat of thunderstorms will await racers and spectators at the 104th edition of the Tour de France through this weekend.
Soaring temperatures could reach dangerous levels on Thursday for Stage 6.
Stage 6 will take place on Wednesday from Vesoul to Troyes, with temperatures approaching 34 C (93 F) by the end of the stage.
France 7/5
The average high during the beginning of July for the region is near 23 C (74 F).
While rain-free weather is expected to continue, more humid air and generally light winds will make the day feel especially stifling.
The heat and humidity will remain a factor on Friday for Stage 7 which will take place between Troyes and Nuits-Saint-Georges.
Temperatures will again surpass 32 C (90 F) for much of the stage.

The heat and humidity will combine to produce a chance for thunderstorms, especially during the final 100 km (62 miles).
A shift into the higher terrain of eastern France for the weekend stages will bring a bit of relief from the heat; however, high humidity and an approaching storm system will raise the risk for thunderstorms.
