French President Emmanuel Macron is so dedicated to fighting climate change that he is willing to hoard America’s scientists.
Since the U.S. announcement to pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement, Macron has launched the “Make Our Planet Great Again” website, a spin on President Trump’s campaign slogan “Make America Great Again.”
“France has always been a leader in the advancement of human rights and has left its mark in our common history,” reads a statement from Macron on the website. “Our new challenge? Climate change.”
The offer for American scientists to come work in France was first made via Twitter on June 1 after Trump’s announcement.

The French leader has taken it a step further with this site, which consists of a short set of questions followed by a screen welcoming you to France, your new homeland, and a form for filling out additional information. The response time is listed as three business days.
France is offering four-year grants for financing research projects, which will cover expenses such as salary, working staff and students.
Not only scientists are invited. The website also has options for students, entrepreneurs, teachers and associations to apply.
Despite the decision to withdraw from the climate agreement, more than 1,200 corporations, academic institutions and state and local governments announced that they plan to stand behind the pact, which involves cutting emissions 26 to 28 percent below 2005 levels by 2025.
They also committed to advocating for a target global warming level of 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit), which small island nations have long pushed as a safe level for their continued existence.
“France has always led fights for human rights,” Macron wrote in a statement on the website. “Today, more than ever, we are determined to lead (and win!) this battle on climate change.
“The planet needs your innovative skills,” he continued. “So, are you IN to change (literally!) our daily lives and make our planet great again?”
