Severe thunderstorms and flooding will pose dangers to residents and travelers across Texas spanning Monday into Tuesday.
The drenching thunderstorms in Texas will follow severe weather from Minnesota to Oklahoma to close out the weekend.
“The most likely time for scattered severe thunderstorms will be Monday afternoon into Monday night across much of central Texas,” AccuWeather Storm Warning Meteorologist Brian Koochel said.
The thunderstorms will tend to erupt later in the afternoon, mainly between 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., local time.

“The main threats will be isolated tornadoes and wind gusts to 70 mph,” Koochel said.
Hail could also be large enough to dent cars and smash windows in some communities.
Dallas, San Angelo, San Antonio and Tyler are among the cities that will be threatened.
“A high amount of moisture is expected to be available for these storms to work with, so flash flooding will likely become more of a concern as we move into Monday night and Tuesday,” Koochel said.
Koochel anticipates a general 1 to 3 inches of rain across the region, with up to 6 inches possible depending on where the heaviest storms set up.

Stretches of Interstate 10, I-20 and I-35 could be slower than normal due to reduced visibility in the downpours and pooling of water on the roadways.
Motorists should avoided flooded roadways and find an alternate route if necessary.
The Monday evening commute could be particularly tricky from Dallas to near Del Rio.
The severe risk will transition to mainly flooding as the thunderstorms slowly sink southward on Tuesday.
San Antonio, Del Rio and possibly as far south as the Rio Grande Valley could face a thorough soaking and flooding.
Although a few thunderstorms are possible in Houston on Tuesday, the worst of the stormy weather will miss the city to the north and west.
Strong Monday

Outside of Texas, another cluster of locally heavy and gusty thunderstorms could erupt over the lower Great Lakes region from central Illinois to northern Indiana and southern Michigan on Monday afternoon into Monday night.
