New York Fashion Week: Disruptive Storms to Kick off Event Thursday

New York Fashion Week will kickoff on Thursday, Sept. 10, as storms invade the region after days of sizzling heat.
Storms capable of producing localized flash flooding may bring hazards for those traveling to different venues on the first official day of the event.

A semi-annual event, Fashion Week will feature spring/summer 2016 collections from iconic designers including Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Monique Lhuillier, Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors. Official shows will take place at the Skylight at Moynihan Station and the Skylight at Clarkson Square, two new locations for this year's event.
Other popular designers such as Kate Spade New York, Christian Siriano, Diane Von Furstenburg and Marc Jacobs will showcase their collections at various locations across the city.
"Minor localized street flooding is possible as the storms bring the potential for heavy rain on Thursday," AccuWeather Meteorologist Mike Doll said.

By Friday, the threat for storms will diminish as humidity levels fall. Temperatures will drop to the low 80s F making for more comfortable conditions into Saturday.

"Saturday is the best chance for a dry day with partly sunny skies," Doll said.
However, rain will return to the region on Sunday. While it isn't expected to be a washout, showers and a possible thunderstorm could cause disruptive conditions for travel throughout the city.
