Showers and thunderstorms will be a daily occurrence around Atlanta through much of the new week.
A very moist and unsettled airmass will be in place over the region throughout the week, bring the chance of showers and thunderstorms each day, said AccuWeather Meteorologist Colette Mancini.
Many of these thunderstorms will develop during the afternoon and evening hours and will be capable of producing torrential downpours and frequent lightning.
As a result, travel and any outdoor activities could face delays as the storms move overhead.

The 90-degree F heat that was experienced during the opening days of September is expected to let up a bit, but it will still remain rather warm and humid.
"Temperatures [this week] will be around normal with highs in the middle 80s F," said Mancini.
Wednesday looks to be the warmest day of the week before temperatures fall closer to 80 F by Friday.

Any rain that falls during this week's storms will add to the already wetter-than-normal summer that Atlanta has experienced.
From the start of June through the first week of September, Atlanta has received over 18 inches of rain. This is a bit higher than the 13.82 inches of rain that typically falls during the same period.
This trend of wetter-than-normal weather is forecast to continue through at least the middle of September and possibly into the start of fall.
