Monday Severe Storms to Target Detroit, Memphis, Shreveport

A potent storm system will ignite yet another round of severe weather across the U.S. on Monday, this time from Michigan to Texas.
After violent thunderstorms rattled the Plains both days of the weekend, the threat zone will shift eastward to start the new week.
Places from southern lower Michigan to northeastern Texas will be at greatest risk for severe weather Monday into Monday evening.
"The area of low pressure that caused so much weather havoc the last few days will lift north into the Great Lakes region on Monday," stated AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Becky Elliott.
"As it does, it will send a cold front through the midsection of the country," Elliott added. This front will be the focal point for the violent thunderstorms.

"The tornado threat will be greatly diminished from the last few days," continued Elliott, "with damaging winds, hail and flash flooding existing as the main threats. However, with as potent as this storm system has been, an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out."
While the threat for blinding and flooding downpours will be equal throughout the day, the concern for damaging winds and hail will be highest in the afternoon and early evening.
Cities in the path of Monday's strong storms include Detroit and Kalamazoo, Michigan; Champaign, Illinois; Indianapolis and Evansville, Indiana; Bowling Green and Louisville, Kentucky; Memphis, Tennessee; El Dorado, Arkansas; Shreveport, Louisiana; and Tyler, Texas.

Monday will even start with gusty thunderstorms rattling Little Rock as downpours threatening to slow down the morning commute in St. Louis.
Thunderstorms will also rattle central and southern Texas on Monday with a localized number turning strong in the afternoon, followed by a steadier and potentially flooding rain unfolding at night.
The storm will push thunderstorms into the Northeast on Tuesday, but widespread severe weather is not expected.
