Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday,March 17,2015

Expect multiple areas of wet weather to develop across the nation on Tuesday. In the West, a trough of low pressure that brought a few scattered showers to Oregon and far northern California will continue sliding northeastward, bringing rain showers to the Intermountain West and northern Rockies on Tuesday. To the south, a low pressure system over Mexico advances northward and pulls moisture and energy in from the Gulf of Mexico. This will kick up widespread showers and thunderstorms across Texas and Oklahoma, with some showers possibly extending westward into New Mexico and eastward into the lower Mississippi River Valley. Rainfall totals will vary around a half of an inch, with some isolated areas across eastern Texas possibly seeing over 1 inch of rain on Tuesday.

In the North, a trough of low pressure that produced rain across the upper Midwest and Great Lakes on Monday is expected to continue moving eastward into the Northeast. As cooler air builds in behind this system from eastern Canada, expect the far northern locations to see rain showers turn to snow showers. This system has a history of producing 0.25 to 0.50 inches of rain, and if snow develops, accumulation will be light.
