Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday,March 14,2015

Two weather systems combine over the East Coast on Saturday as a trough of low pressure moves in from eastern Canada and a system slides northeastward from the Southeastern states. These systems will create a broad low pressure system over the Northeast with a trough and associated cold front extending southward down the East Coast. Expect this system to produce moderate to heavy rainfall for the Ohio River Valley and across the East Coast. Rainfall total will range from 1 to 2 inches, with parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and the Virginias possibly seeing over 2 inches. Cooler temperatures along the northern side of this system will allow for snow showers to develop over northern Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Heaviest snowfall anticipated will range from 3 to 5 inches in northern Maine.

Meanwhile out West, a low pressure system moves into British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest, creating a cold front that stretches southward over Oregon and northern California. This system will produce moderate to heavy precipitation over the Washington Cascades. Rainfall totals are likely to range from 1 to 2 inches in the mountains, with less than 1 inch anticipated at lower levels. Only a few rain showers will extend southward into far northern California on Saturday as a strong ridge of high pressure keeps moisture from this system to the north.
