Monday's Warmth to Tease Pittsburgh Before Chill Returns

Residents of Pittsburgh should not get used to Monday's warmth with a shot of cooler air quickly to follow.
Monday is shaping up to be the nicest day of this week. Temperatures will rise into the 60s, which is more typical of April.
While actual temperatures will exceed Sunday's high by roughly 20 degrees, Monday will feel even warmer than the end of the weekend with brisk winds absent.
The one concern the milder weather brings is the potential for ice jams on area rivers, which are running high due to recent snowmelt and soaking rain.

Residents should take full advantage of Monday's mild weather since it will not last long.
The passage of a cold front will cause the air to turn progressively cooler Tuesday through Wednesday. The middle of the new week will feel more like a typical February day with temperatures struggling to rise much above the 40-degree mark.

A dramatic rebound in temperatures will not follow later in the week.

This week is likely to be a preview of what is to come during the next several weeks.
"While there could be a day or two of warmth ahead of any cold front, the weather pattern is not favoring any sustained warmth across the East into April," stated AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Mark Paquette. "There can even be some really chilly shots as well."
