A shot of milder January air is set to span the weekend for the Detroit area, but it will not last long.
After several days of highs in the low 20s, the mercury could climb to just below 40 degrees F this weekend, several degrees above normal for this time of the year.

The best day of the week to get outside will likely be Saturday as the more comfortable air will be met by sunny skies. By Sunday, skies will turn cloudier with the chance for a flurry in the afternoon.
Otherwise, high pressure moving east of the region will work to keep the city mostly dry for the next couple of days.
By the start of the new week, temperatures will again drop below normal, with highs in the mid-20s.
