Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday, December 7,2014

 




An active weather pattern will develop across the northern tier of the country on Sunday, while a cold front will approach the West Coast.

An area of low pressure will shift eastward over the northern Plains and the upper Midwest on Sunday. This system will usher a mixture of rain and snow across the northern Plains during the morning, while high elevation snow showers will be possible across the northern Rockies. There will also be a slight chance of snow showers over the central and southern Rockies. During the afternoon and evening, this system will shift over the upper Midwest. There will be a threat of freezing rain over eastern North Dakota, eastern South Dakota, Minnesota, northern Iowa, southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. In addition, snow showers will develop over northeast Minnesota, northern Wisconsin and the western Great Lakes.

Meanwhile, a cold front extending across the Gulf of Mexico, the Southeast and the Eastern Seaboard will slide eastward on Sunday. Morning showers will linger over the East Coast, focusing over the Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast. An onshore flow from the Gulf of Mexico will also trigger rain across portions of Texas.

Out west, a cold front will approach the West Coast. This system will bring light to moderate showers to northern California and the Pacific Northwest during Sunday evening. High pressure will keep conditions clear across the Great Basin and the Southwest.
