Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday,December 6,2014

A low pressure system will shift across the eastern third of the country on Saturday, while a cold front will drift across the Pacific Northwest.

A low pressure system is forecast to push east northeastward over the Tennessee Valley, the Ohio Valley and the Mid-Atlantic on Saturday. This system will draw moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, which will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms across the western and central Gulf Coast, the Deep South, the Tennessee Valley, the southern Ohio Valley and the Mid-Atlantic. Rainy weather will also develop from Indiana to southern New England, while a pocket of snow showers will impact Upstate New York and northern New England. Arctic high pressure will settle in to the west of this system, bringing bitter cold temperatures to the northern Plains and the upper Midwest.

Meanwhile, an area of low pressure will develop over British Columbia. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will slide across the West Coast. Moderate to heavy rain will develop across central and northern California, Oregon, Washington and the lower elevations of the upper Intermountain West. High elevation snow showers are expected across the Cascades, the northern Rockies and the Sierra Nevada. A cluster of scattered showers will also pop up over the Four Corners, bringing a chance of snow to the central Rockies. High pressure over the eastern Pacific will keep conditions relatively dry across southern California on Saturday.
