Weather Underground Forecast for Friday,December 12,2014

Unsettled weather will impact the West Coast on Friday, while an area of low pressure will linger over the Northeast.

A low pressure system will drift across the upper Intermountain West on Friday. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend south southwestward over the Great Basin and the Southwest. Moderate to heavy rain will shift across central and southern California. There will be a threat of flash flooding over southwest California, while heavy snow showers will develop over the central and southern Sierra Nevada. In addition, light to moderate showers will persist over northern California and portions of the Pacific Northwest. Moderate to heavy snow showers will develop across the Cascades, the Rockies and south central Nevada. High surf will affect coastal regions from northern California to southern California, as high surf advisories are in place across the region.

Meanwhile, an onshore flow from the Gulf of Mexico will continue to fuel scattered showers and thunderstorms over the southern Plains and the lower Mississippi Valley.

An area of low pressure will linger over the Northeast on Friday. Light to moderate snow showers will be possible from the interior Mid-Atlantic to interior New England. A mixture of rain and snow will affect the coast of New England. High pressure will build over the Mid-Atlantic, keeping weather conditions relatively calm across the southeastern corner of the country.
