Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday,December 10 2014

 


A low pressure system will continue to impact the eastern third of the country on Wednesday, while a Pacific system will approach the West Coast.

A strong low pressure system will inch northward over the northern Mid-Atlantic and New England on Wednesday. Heavy rain will affect the Mid-Atlantic, while the interior Mid-Atlantic and the central Appalachians will experience moderate to heavy snow showers. Coastal New England can expect a mixture of rain and snow, while heavy snow showers will impact interior New England. There will also be a chance of freezing rain across the northern Mid-Atlantic and New England. High surf will impact coastal regions across the northern Mid-Atlantic and New England, especially during the late evening when peak high tide occurs. Conditions will remain mostly clear across the Deep South and the Southeast.

Meanwhile, scattered showers will spread across the southern Plains and parts of the middle Mississippi Valley as a pocket of energy moves across the central third of the country.

Unsettled weather will move onshore across the West Coast on Wednesday as a cold front approaches the region. Moderate to heavy rain will develop across western Washington and western Oregon, while heavy rain is forecast to develop over northern California during the afternoon and evening. There will be a chance of flash flooding over western Washington, southwest Oregon and northwest California. In addition, heavy snow showers will develop across the Olympic and Cascade ranges of Washington. .
