A solid week after similar rain fell across the Bay Area, 2 to 4 inches of drought-relieving rain could fall into late week.
According to AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Brian Thompson, the rain could come with a catch.
"There is a threat for flash flooding and mudslides with this rain," he said. 'Urban streets could see flooding."
The barrage of rain will persist into late week with lighter rain by Friday.
The rain will swarm the region at midweek with heavy downpours at times.
The enhanced precipitation could break the typical average amount of rainfall for the month of December with two full weeks still left on the calendar.

Temperatures will be higher than normal for this time of year as well. According to Thompson, the city has always recorded temperatures 9 degrees F above normal for this month and that trend will continue throughout this week.
Looking ahead to the weekend, skies should dry up for any weekend activities. Skies will remain partly cloudy.
