In the wake of heavy rain, coastal flooding and strong winds, enough chilly air will circulate into the New York City area to allow a touch of snow before Friday.
As the storm moves slowly northward into Friday, a northwesterly flow on the back side will bring in colder air for a couple of days.
When combined with northwest winds averaging 15-30 mph and other conditions, AccuWeather RealFeel® temperatures will dip into the 20s at times Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Locally heavy snow will fall over parts of northern and western upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania during Wednesday with difficult travel, while rain showers occur along the New Jersey, New York and Connecticut coasts. Due to the gusty wind, a raincoat may fare better than an umbrella.
The atmosphere will be cold enough to support some snow showers Wednesday night and Thursday around the city. It is possible for some grassy surfaces to be coated with snow during this time with some slippery spots on secondary roads north and west of the city. Most city streets and major highways along the coast will be wet.
