A major storm is impacting the Northeast and will continue to bring heavy rain, substantial snow, gusty winds and a wintry mix to the region into Thursday.
The storm began early Tuesday morning along the mid-Atlantic coast and will continue to spread inland and northward through Wednesday.
As colder air invades the storm in the Northeast, heavy snow will fall over upstate New York and a change to snow in other parts of the mid-Atlantic and New England will occur into Thursday.
Heavy, wet snow can lead to downed trees and power lines. Meanwhile, interstates in upstate New York and northern New England may become snow covered, making for treacherous travel conditions.
