Chicago: Warmth to Follow Messy Start to Week

After a few snow showers in the Chicago-area Tuesday, drier weather and sunshine will dominate the week.
Following Wednesday's seasonable highs in the mid-30s, Thursday will surge to the mid-40s. The afternoon marks the best opportunity to get outdoors this week as the air temperature rises significantly above normal and sunshine is abundant.
Though Thursday marks the height of the warmth this week, highs over the weekend will still rise slightly above normal. Those headed out for weekend holiday shopping won't be hit by bitter winter air but should still wear a winter coat.

Overall, however, it will be a decent weekend for hitting the shops as no precipitation is expected through Saturday. Roadways will be clear of snow and ice.
On Sunday, an afternoon shower could disrupt plans.
