After a few days of above-normal temperatures in Detroit, cold air is set to surge into the city by the end of week.
The warm air that lingered on Monday and Tuesday will be erased as temperatures plummet to the upper 30s on Thursday, with the chance for a snow shower.
Normal for this time of year in Detroit is in the upper 40s.

The polar vortex is partly to blame for the plunge in temperatures, as it slips southward through the course of this week opening the door for arctic air to plunge across the United States.
Those who plan to spend time outdoors should prepare to dress for winterlike weather for several days. Cloudy skies and breezy conditions will make RealFeels even lower.
Highs could be as many as 15 degrees below normal into next week with several opportunities for snow showers.
